here's what you'll learn inside the digital skills academy...
pre-flight: career prep
We’ll kick things off with a one-on-one career call where one of our coaches will guide you through initial self-discovery to help you figure out what you’re naturally good at and walk you through your career pathway options.
module one: introduction
In this module, you’ll be introduced to the fundamental concepts of cyber security, including concepts such as the CIA triad and defence in depth.
module two: the tier one analyst role
Next you’ll be introduced to the security operations centre environment, where you’ll gain an understanding of the different job roles, capabilities, and responsibilities of a cyber security operations centre and the analysts that work within it.
module three: operating system security
As our first practical module of the course, you will learn about operating system security, and the processes associated with securing variations of both windows and linux operating systems, using industry standard security implementation guides.
module four: analysing advanced threats
Here you will undergo your first pieces of analytical work as you study how attacks unfold from large threat actors, and conduct research on an advanced persistent threat (APT) to gain an understanding of tactics, techniques, and procedures used by large scale threat actors.
module five: incident response
You will now be introduced to the process of incident response and must complete tasks that involve building you own incident response playbook (IRP), and analysing a scenario in which you are responding to a possible cyber attack on a small firm.
module six: SIEMs and network traffic analysis
In the final core module of the course, you will become familiar with security information and event management systems by setting up and exploring your own dashboard. You will also perform some network traffic analysis using packet captures to extract information about a previous cyber attack.
module seven: launch your new career
Last but not least we’ll guide you through everything from preparing your CV, how to dress for your next job interview and how to position yourself to put your best foot forward.
